RX-8 vs. 500 HP BMW M5 at VIR. Mazda RX-8 wins.

Second session on Saturday, June 14, 2008. Finally let me pass after 1-3/4 laps. Both the BMW driver and I are advanced, high-performance driving instructors. The RX-8 is completely stock except for a B&B muffler and Hawk HP Plus pads on the front. It does not have traction control or stability control. Tires are original stock street Potenzas. Video was recorded upside-down due to the mount, and was transcoded to rotate it. Quality suffered.

The rest of the energy is lost to engine and driveline inefficiencies and idling. Therefore, the potential to improve fuel efficiency with advanced technologies is enormous. With an Electric Car it costs just $2.00 per 100kms with MUCH more performance than with petrol at $20.00 per 100kms. Dodge Viper V10 500 hp Vs Tzero EV Electric car.
